What does the laser do?

Laser hair removal uses laser light energy with a specific wavelength. During treatment, lasers emit energy in the form of light on the skin. The melanin in the hair absorbs this energy and converts it into heat, destroying the hair follicles to prevent or stop future growth.

Is it painful?

Removing body hair is rarely painless; however, the SplendorX has unique features to make it less painful and more comfortable than other lasers on the market.

Specifically, SplendorX has a unique Dual Cooling System to make the treatment more comfortable while protecting your skin. This technology combines Cryo-Touch and Cryo-Air. The cryo tip delivers cold air over the laser beam, which actively removes heat from tissue. This technology will reduce any pain and discomfort during your session. Each individual tolerates pain differently, so discuss any discomfort during your session with your aesthetician.

How many sessions will it take? 

The number of laser hair removal sessions you might need will vary. Depending on the area of the body, it can take 6-8 appointments minimum. It may be more or less depending on your goals and skin type. All laser hair removal patients must schedule a free consultation before any treatments occur.

What to expect during the procedure?

The technician will provide special goggles to protect your eyes from the laser beam. Once ready, they’ll press the hand-held laser to your skin and talk you through each step as they go.

During the procedure, you might feel a slight zap of discomfort. The heat from the laser may feel like a pinprick; however, the Cryo Air and a Cryo Touch tip protect your skin, making it more comfortable and less painful.

Additionally, a built-in smoke evacuator and HEPA filter provide a smoke-free environment that can result from burnt hair.

What to expect after the procedure?

How the area will look right after treatment varies from person to person. Depending on your skin, you might notice some redness or swelling around the hair follicles after your procedure. To reduce any discomfort, apply ice to the treated area.

After laser hair removal and between scheduled treatments, avoid sunlight (including tanning beds) and follow the post-procedure directions provided by your technician to prevent any adverse reactions.

What are the risks?

SplendorX treatments are generally suitable for everyone. It’s great for all body areas and types of hair. However, laser removal may not be right for everyone and does carry some risks.

Laser hair removal isn’t suitable if you have an active infection or inflammation such as viral, fungal, or bacterial diseases. Also, if you have active cold sores, open wounds, or abrasions in the treatment area, you will not be able to have this procedure.

Risks may include changes to skin pigmentation and texture. Ultimately, the chances of side effects vary with skin type and hair color. Side effects can increase if you avoid the detailed pre- and post-instructions your technician provides at your consult.

What results can I expect?

Lasers are effective when hair is at an early growth stage. However, because not all hairs will be at the same stage at the same time, you’ll need multiple sessions to reduce or permanently remove any unwanted hair. Your technician will estimate the sessions required for your goals during your consult.

Hairs do not fall out immediately. Instead, they shed over days to weeks. At first, this may look like continued hair growth. However, when hair grows back, it’s usually finer and lighter in color. That’s why repeated treatments are generally necessary to achieve the desired results.
