What’s PRP for Hair Loss?

PRP for hair loss is a popular med spa service for both men and women. Hair loss is a genetic condition most of us face as we age. While there is no cure for hair loss, there is something we can do to create and maintain a beautiful head of hair affordably and without surgery.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a technique often used in hair restoration. It is an all-natural treatment derived from the patient’s blood cells.

PRP for Hair Loss FAQ’s

How does it work?

A qualified and licensed professional injects plasma from the patient’s blood into the scalp. This plasma contains platelets and growth factors that stimulate and maintain growth from the hair follicles. Each appointment will take approximately one hour with no downtime.

How long does it last?

PRP slows down the effects of hair loss and helps maintain fuller, thicker hair. However, PRP is not a cure for hair loss, so maintenance is required. Regular treatments are recommended and will vary by individual.

How often are treatments given?

We recommend that each patient have at least three treatments spaced about 1 to 3 months apart, then maintenance treatments approximately 2 to 4 times a year.

Is PRP for me?

We highly recommend that each patient considering PRP meet with Angelina Boulanger. She is one of our aestheticians and a Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to see if you are a candidate for this technique. Or schedule an appointment with at the Northern Oklahoma Dermatology clinic. Unfortunately, there are some restrictions, and not all patients will be able to participate in this treatment.
